An Australian teen who had to shut down an event page on Facebook after more than 200,000 people RSVPed for her sweet 16 party now has more than 70,000 people who have signed up to attend her new party. The girl named Jess called police Monday to say her Facebook account had been hijacked after thousands said they’d attend her birthday party in Chatswood in New South Wales on March 26.
Jess had originally intended to invite the students in her grade, but told her guests that they could bring friends since she didn’t have time to invite everyone. She encouraged others to invite friends on her behalf saying that it was an “open house party as long as it doesn’t get out of hand.” The invitation, which went viral, had her address on it.
A number of the postings on the invitation’s wall used the Anonymous symbol in them, which is cause to think the group might have a role in the invitation going viral worldwide. A 17-year-old boy was charged today for hijacking the invitation, but there is no clear answer as to who’s responsible.

I want to attend this party too.
where do i sign up
#4chan ftw
'hijacking' an open invitation? I'm quite sure they are using the wrong word to describe the public's interest in attending her public, open Facebook event. Facebook has 'privacy' features for a reason.
^^^ so true...
if she didn't want it to "get out of hand" she should have set privacy settings... surely if her friends wanted to invite their friends, they could actually talk to them...
What's the "Anonymous symbol"? Like the Bat-signal, but with pedobear?
So true. This is human stupidity.... She obviously can't handle her online persona. They better not blame this on hackers, as this had nothing to do with "hacking" unless its social engineering in which her friends played the prank on her.
I believe the "Anonymous Symbol" of which they speak is the headless suit seal.

Cool story, bro.
I wanna come too!
Hijack ~ Public Invitation... one of these things is not like the other.
Firstly, if you're using Facebook to do invitations to a public party, with your address listed... you probably aren't the sharpest french fry in the cave. Secondly, why would you call the police? Why would the police need to be called for anything happening on Facebook... an imaginary world that only exists on a server, in digital bits and bytes? Oh, I see... she actually took it seriously, that 200,000 people would show up. I think society and the parents are the true winners in this event.
I'm going!!!
